Imaging and Diagnosis of Underground Utilities

Description

By the end of the education module you will be able to:

  1. Understand the basic principle, limitations and compare strengths and weaknesses of utility positioning’s geophysical survey methods (pipe cable locating and ground penetrating radar in 3D) based on BS PAS 128, ASCE 38-02 and Hong Kong PolyU specifications.
  2. Understand the basic principle, limitations and compare strengths and weaknesses of utility condition’s non-destructive survey methods (visual inspection, acoustic emission, thermography, ground penetrating radar, inline pipe survey, flow survey).
  3. Based on objective 1 and 2, study three problem-based case studies (void survey, water leak survey, re-liner defects) of imaging and diagnosis.
